01 — The Challenge
Adidas was launching the VRCT Jacket in India as part of its global #WeRepresent campaign — a varsity jacket built around team pride and self-expression.
The brief was to add genuine value to the global idea locally: launch the jacket digitally and get at least 10,000 people to share a story about what their favourite group represents — and then change that group's display picture to a personalised, branded icon.
02 — The Insight
Everyone is in dozens of group chats, but there is one that truly represents them — the oldest friends, the closest family, the group you don't mind spamming with holiday photos.
VRCT stood for self-expression. The platform's strength was real conversations among real users. The logical move was to ask real users what their real conversations represent.
03 — The Strategic Move
Approach the brief as a thinking problem, not an execution problem. Rather than push the jacket as product, make the campaign about people's groups — and let the jacket become the reward for expressing what your group stands for.
That reframed a mechanic-heavy brief (forms, icons, screenshots) into something simple to say: tell us about your people.
04 — The Idea
#WeRepresent, taken into the group chat. People shared their favourite group and what it stands for; each entry received a personalised icon — over 10,000 unique designs — to set as their group display picture. Winners received the newly launched VRCT Jacket and badges for every member of their group.

06 — My Role
I was project lead: I shaped the strategic response to the brief, developed the campaign idea and structure, and led delivery across content, design and community teams.
Video production, the 10,000+ icon designs and community responses were executed by the wider LBB crew; I owned the strategy, the plan and the client relationship.
07 — How it came to life

- Execution
- Two phases: awareness, then participation — run over ten days with every entry answered within 24–48 hours.
- Channels
- Platform web and app, Instagram across city handles, YouTube video, email and — ultimately — WhatsApp itself.
- Partnerships
- Adidas India, with the platform acting as strategic and creative partner rather than a media buy.
- Content
- A vox-pop film shot on the streets of Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore asking people who is in their favourite group and what it represents; a branded landing page; 10,000+ personalised group icons.
- Experience
- Screenshots of new group icons started arriving within five minutes of the first emails going out.
08 — Why it mattered
Brands had been struggling to use WhatsApp as a medium at all. Starting from what the audience already cared about — their people — turned a global brand message into thousands of personal acts of participation.
